IMDbCall Me Chihiro is a Japanese slice-of-life drama that follows the life of a woman who is condemned for having multiple sexual encounters but finds peace through her interactions with strangers. Despite the slow pacing of the film, the audience is immersed into Chihiro's world, where she interacts with strangers in a refreshing and soothing way, allowing her to slowly float up to the top of the sea. Chihiro's character is carefully revealed through snapshots, revealing her as a ray of hope to people around her. The cinematography of the film is a plus point, putting the audience in the seaside village where the story takes place. However, the film suffers from not having any real high points and the slow pacing may test the patience of some viewers. Overall, Call Me Chihiro is like a warm, comforting hug from a stranger, providing redemption to a single woman and allowing the audience to understand human emotions better.
