Story
Morris "Mud" Himmel has a problem. His parents desperately want to send him away to summer camp. He hates going to summer camp, and would do anything to get out of it. Talking to his friends, he realizes that they are all facing the same sentence: a boring summer camp. There is a bar named "Camp Nowhere" in North Providence, Rhode Island. It was named and themed after the film

Jessica Alba's on-screen acting debut. She was initially hired as an extra for two weeks, with no lines. Later, she had to fill in for a principal character, and received her first on-screen credit.

Jonathan Jackson's soap opera mother Genie Francis has a small role as Arnold's mother. Arnold's father is played by her real-life husband Jonathan Frakes.

The postcard, sent by Dennis, which T.R. Polk finds pinned to the notice board at Chez Cheese, reads: "To all my friends at Chez Cheese, having a great time on my vacation. Hope our customers don't miss me too much. Looking forward to my next vacation!! Ciao mes amis, Dennis". The postal address on the card is "Chez Cheese, 1 Plaza Square, Pittsfield, PA. 91221".

In the early trailers, the make-your-own-omelette scene included the invention of the popcorn omelette. It grew into a ball then exploded sending kids flying out the windows. This scene was cut from the final film and removed from future trailers.
