Adele Lim, who co-wrote the Crazy Rich Asians (2018) screenplay, exited the project due to a dispute with the studio over a pay disparity. She was reportedly paid less money than her male co-writer Peter Chiarelli, even though she was the more experienced of the two. In the ensuing controversy, the studio offered Lim a pay raise, but she still declined to return.
