The red car also appears as the Knight Industries Four Thousand (KIFT) in Knight Rider 2000 (1991).

The computer in the "million dollar concept car" that requires a PIN is actually a "Sharp el-6560" memo-master personal data assistant. If you look closely, you can see buttons for the different days of the week on the buttons.

Long time supporting characters Harlan, Bonnie and Turner do not appear in the film. Randi Oakes (Bonnie) retired from acting to raise her family shortly after CHiPs ended, and Michael Dorn (Turner) was busy with Star Trek projects at the time. Thom Riley, who replaced Larry Wilcox during the show's final season does not appear as Bobby Nelson, though Bruce Penhall reprises his role as Bruce Nelson.
