Mary Beth McDonough not only wrote the book "The House on Honeysuckle Lane" on which this movie is based, and played Caroline Reynolds, the mother, but she was Erin Walton in the TV series The Waltons (1972). Kami Cotler, who played the youngest sister Elizabeth on The Waltons, appears as a townsperson in this movie. You can see her sitting on the couch during the initial party scenes.
Colin Ferguson is three years older than his co-star Alicia Witt.
