TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Seymour Cassel was set to star but left shortly before filming began. Kris Kristofferson was a last minute replacement.

The soundtrack for this movie actually features four Kristofferson songs. Three of those tracks, "Loving Her Was Easier (Than Anything I'll Ever Do Again)," "The Pilgrim: Chapter 33," and "Breakdown (A Long Way from Home)," all from his (now legendary) album "The Silver Tongued Devil and I" which was released in 1971, the year prior to this film's release.

Gene Hackman was on the verge of stardom from his role in "The French Connection" when he appeared in the above film. He left for New York to start work on that film the day after he finished his role in this movie.

Went into production under the title " Dealer".

Eight years later, Harry Dean Stanton would co-star with the niece of his castmate Doodles Weaver from this film--Sigourney Weaver--in Alien (1979).

Popular Dialogues

"Cisco Pike: The kids take it hard when you left? Jesse Dupre: I imagine. Ah, screw it, man. I'm gonna' provide for them when we make it. I'm gonna' give 'em half my share. Besides, I got some accident money left. Cisco Pike: What's that? Jesse Dupre: I got in a car wreck and sustained some heavy "brain damage". That's the easiest one to pull now. Whiplash don't work no more. Broke a leg once. But brain damage, man, that's the easiest one. Ten thousand, just like that. I'm lucky like that, man. Things happen to me."

"Jesse Dupre: [looking at two girls] Oh wow, man. Long time. Cisco Pike: Same though, ain't it?"
