The show is set in Sparkhill, Birmingham, but since the closure of BBC Pebble Mill in 2004 there are no longer any suitable TV studios in Birmingham, so the show is recorded at the BBC's new Media City studios in Salford, Greater Manchester. However, creator and star Adil Ray insists that some location filming is done in Birmingham for each series.
In Series 2 Episode 5, Mr. Khan is trying to contact a man called Imran Khan on the computer. Adil Ray who plays Mr. Khan would go on to play a man named Imran Khan in the ITV miniseries Stephen (2021).
