Scheduled for broadcast in the US in the 2001-2002 TV season. However, due to the events of 11 September 2001, the broadcast date has been delayed indefinitely. It was broadcast in Italy on 8 February 2003 with the title "Detective Novak, indagine ad alta quota".
A Qantas Boeing 747SP (one of two operated by the airline, registration VH-EAB) was digitally repainted (ie. using computer software rather than actually repainting the aircraft) in the livery of the fictional Oceanic Airways for the ground scenes. The aircraft was replaced by a CG model while in flight. Many of the scenes set inside the aircraft were filmed in the Qantas cabin crew training facility.
The fictional airline name Oceanic Airways was also used in Executive Decision (1996).
