In a 2013 interview with the Television Academy, Patty Duke admitted that money was her only motivation for appearing in this film. Duke didn't like the final product, but her kids enjoyed it, and she enjoyed working on the film.
The zoo scene in this film was filmed at the Enchanted Village in Buena Park, California.
On the VHS slip-sleeve box and DVD cover sleeve of this film, Sid Caesar's name is mistakenly listed as Sin Caesar.
The young girl gymnast in the film is the daughter of its director, Dan Curtis. Her name is Tracy Curtis. She only appeared in two made-for-TV films, both of them directed by her father: Trilogy of Terror (1975) and this one. She stayed in show business throughout her life as a film editor.
The sound that the large black widow spider makes in its boathouse lair is the same as the Japanese giant pterosaur Rodan's. It is taken from the film Rodan (1956), the first film to feature the monster.
