Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is an anime series set in the same universe as the superhit video game franchise Cyberpunk 2077. The show tells the story of a group of "edgerunners," or freelance operatives who take on dangerous jobs in the seedy underbelly of Night City. The series features impressive animation and direction, with a visually stunning and immersive style that captures the neon-lit, cyberpunk aesthetic of the game. The show's themes of technology, power, and the human condition are explored in a compelling and thought-provoking manner that highlights the darker aspects of a world ruled by corporations and high-tech gadgets. The show's soundtrack by various artists is expected to complement the visuals and add to the overall mood and atmosphere. Overall, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a well-made and thrilling addition to the Cyberpunk franchise. It's a must-watch for fans of cyberpunk and anime, and anyone interested in exploring the dark and dangerous future of technology.

Critically acclaimed Polish singer, songwriter and 2012 X-Factor (Polish version) winner Dawid Podsiadlo was asked by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners' show creator Rafal Jaki to write and sing a song that would be used as the anime's ending theme. As a massive gamer and a close friend of Jaki, Podsiadlo happily agreed.
The creators of the game added several references of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime in the game Cyberpunk 2077 as an update. Including memorabilia, guns and lore.

During production, CD Projekt Red was initially against the addition of Rebecca's character in the series since they felt that a loli wouldn't fit Night City's aesthetic. However, after studio Trigger insisted on her being in the show, her character wasn't scrapped.
