TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

In the scene where Bobby (Patrick Duffy) encounters J.R. (Larry Hagman) at Southfork for the first time, Bobby offers J.R. a drink, but J.R. refuses, citing doctor's advice. This film was filmed and aired less than four months after Larry Hagman's liver transplant in July 1996. J.R. was drinking again on Dallas (2012).

This marks the final appearance of Deborah Rennard as Sly Lovegren.

The character of Sue Ellen Ewing returned to the regular Dallas (1978) continuity for the first time since Dallas: Reel Life (1989) in this television film. Sue Ellen's only appearance in the interim was in the series finale Dallas: Conundrum (1991) as part of an alternate reality in which J.R. was never born.

This was the last Dallas (1978) project in which the series' executive producer Leonard Katzman was involved. Katzman died on September 5, 1996, more than two months before this television film aired, at the age of 69.

This marks the final appearance of Omri Katz as John Ross Ewing. He had first played the role in Dallas: The Road Back (1983) 13 years earlier.

Popular Dialogues

"John Ross Ewing: [after JR appears screwed by Cliff because he sold Ewing Oil to Bobby and Sue Ellen] Dad, I don't understand, why are you smiling? You just lost Ewing Oil? J.R. Ewing: Son, you don't understand. Ewing Oil is back in Ewing hands. Your Uncle Bobby is no longer going to sell Southfork, and is back in the oil business. I am the Chairman of the Board of Weststar. Your mother is back at Southfork, and you are going to remain in Dallas to learn the oil business under the best damn oil man there ever was. John Ross Ewing: Dad, when you say it that way, it appears you'd planned everything to work out this way from the start. J.R. Ewing: See son, you are learning already."

"Anita Smithfield: You know what really turns me on about you? J.R. Ewing: What's that? Anita Smithfield: You make Machiavelli look like Mother Teresa."
