Most of the extras and some of the minor characters in the film are present or past employees of the real Hobbs Grove
Mike and Lore Callahan (credited as extras as well as production design and production management) are the owners and operators of the real Hobbs Grove
Hobb's Grove is a real place located in Sanger, California. The film was shot on location.
The video surveillance equipment in the background of the office scene is the real working equipment used at Hobbs Grove. It is manufactured by Pelco, which has its world headquarters in Clovis, CA, a few miles away from Sanger, CA.
The original idea of Hobb's Grove was to have creatures you couldn't really see attacking people in the dark, as seen in The Fog (1980), but when director Danny Draven happened to see a series of character drawings by artist Scott McGowan, the idea of the movie soon changed and Danny would eventually use one of Scott's characters - later called The Darkwalker.

"B.J.: People think because I'm black, I like fried chicken... but I like it baked. I like baked chicken!"
