Dehraadun Diary was the debut film for Ragini Nandwani who made the jump from TV to film industry. The film is based on a real life murder.

This movie is based on the murder of Nitish Katara, committed by politician D.P Yadav's son, Vikas Yadav and his nephew, Vishal

The film did not have a theatrical release in British Columbia, Canada.
