Liz Fraser (Leonora) and Fenella Fielding (Mrs. Tadwich) died only five days apart: Fraser on September 6, 2018 and Fielding on September 11, 2018.
The first of the "Doctor" comedies not to feature Sir Dirk Bogarde as Dr. Simon Sparrow. Bogarde had made no secret of his dislike of the two sequels to Doctor in the House (1954), in which he had been required to appear, and had said he never wanted to play Dr. Sparrow again. However, he did so in Doctor In Distress (1963), and said he would be prepared to return in the role "if I get a percentage". (He didn't, however).
The lead characters in this movie are named "Burke" and "Hare". These were the names of two notorious grave-robbers and body-snatchers in Edinburgh in the 1800s.
The book the librarian offers Dr Hare is The Captain's Table by Richard Gordon, author of the book series the films are based on.
Cast members Carole Lesley and Virginia Maskell both committed suicide.
"Dr. Tony Burke: Tell me about yourself. Bare your soul. Leonora: My soul? No ones ever asked to see that before."
