During development, Laetitia Dosch met Justine Triet, who told her she was making Anatomy of a Fall (2023), a movie about a trial involving a dog and a visually impaired person, with a female lead. The similarities almost led Dosch to drop the project.
It was selected to compete in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. There, Kodi the dog won the Palme Dog Award for his role in the movie.
The idea for the movie came from a real story which happened in a small town in France, where a dog bit strangers, and the ensuing trial captivated the town, with demonstrators for both sides.
Directorial debut for actress Laetitia Dosch. Her producer saw "Hate", a show she created with a horse onstage, and told her that if she can do this, then she can direct a movie.
Entirely shot in Switzerland, mostly Lausanne, Vevey and Ginel, all in the canton of Vaud.
