Long version of Just Philippot's awarded short film Acid (2018).
The script originally called for a more expensive movie that the budget permitted. So the production team had to rethink the impact of the acid rains, and the effect ended up less dramatic than what was previously expected. Almost everything was done on set, with minimal CGI work needed. For the look of the environments, director Just Philippot and his DoP Pierre Bajon took inspiration from the work of photographer Saul Leiter, like he metallic textures, or the raindrops on windows.
It was filmed between early March and mid-May 2022, first near Paris, then in Belgium.
It was selected to be screened out of competition in the Midnights Screenings section at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. It had its world premiere there on 21 May 2023.
