Dream Alliance was born on March 23rd 2001. As seen in the film his mother died during his birth from exhaustion and his father, Bien Bien, died just a year later, aged 13. At the time of the film's general release, in May 2021, Dream Alliance was alive and well, having retired from racing in 2012.
The original choice for the role of Jan Vokes was Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, although she was eventually ruled out as being too glamorous for the role as well as looking nothing like the real Jan Vokes. Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd was the producers original choice for the role of Howard Davies but the US distributors wanted an actor better known to American audiences so Damian Lewis was cast instead.
Neither Toni Collette or Damian Lewis are actually Welsh. Collette is an Australian and Lewis is English (although he does have Welsh ancestry).
