TRIVIA

Trivia

The movie was shot with an ensemble cast in Nevada and California on a shoestring budget with a crew never numbering more than 2.

The production was besieged by intense weather conditions. The extreme heat melted or destroyed their limited gear on the first day. With no money or time to replace the equipment, director Michael Ryan Hahn used a ladder and first aid kit in place of a tripod and shot the majority of the film handheld. The result of having less gear to carry made it possible to shoot in more exotic locations that were only accessible by hiking and climbing steep hillsides.

Most of the actors play multiple characters in the movie. The mechanism of Sun Disease required them to play each other's characters whenever the point of view shifted. Tristan James Butler plays 11 characters and Elisabeth Meurer plays 9, including each other. All face swapping was done practically on location without special effects.

100% of the dialogue was rerecorded in post-production because Sun Disease replaces a character's view of the face, not the voice. Different people's voices come out of different people's mouths throughout the film.

The Oracle Joanne Baron recorded her dialogue before production. Elisabeth Meurer, who also plays the Oracle, studied and memorized Joanne's timing in advance to match and sync to her performance in the pre-edited dialogue.
