Final live-action movie role of Alan Rickman (Lieutenant General Frank Benson).
When asked at a screening of this movie about working with Alan Rickman in the actor's final movie role, director Gavin Hood revealed that Rickman stayed on-set for three or four days after shooting wrapped to attend the wrap party and individually thanked the film crew for its dedication.
According to director Gavin Hood, 30% of U.S. military drone operators are treated for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (P.T.S.D.).
The plot resembles the Trolley Problem, an ethical dilemma proposed by Philippa Foot wherein a runaway trolley is about to kill many people, but deliberately pulling a lever would divert the trolley to another track and kill a child. Test subjects often take no action, denying responsibility for the multiple deaths.
Due to budgetary restrictions during the six-week shoot, actors and actresses often worked individually. For example, when Dame Helen Mirren is in the decision room, she was speaking in real time to director Gavin Hood and facing a greenscreen with a red "X" designating her line of focus.
"Lt. General Frank Benson: Never tell a soldier that he does not know the cost of war."
"James Willett: Revolutions are fueled by postings on YouTube."
