The cabin location in the film is an actual Airbnb located in Frazier Park, CA. Since the cabin was located in a densely populated neighborhood, Hanover & Schnabel had to shoot around the neighboring homes to make the cabin seem more secluded.
The film's opening sequence which features a vast, wooded area of Frazier Park was actually filmed in Shades State Park, located 47 miles northwest of Indianapolis, Indiana.
The script that is seen and used in the film is actually a prop. The actual script for "Frazier Park" was only 15 pages. To give it some more bulk, Schnabel fastened two episodes of "Teen Wolf" to the bottom of the 15 pages.
The role of Tom Morris was written specifically for David Lee Hess, who in 2009 made his acting debut in a short film directed by Hanover at The University of Texas at Austin.
