Freeridge is a spinoff of hit teen dramedy series On My Block. It takes most of the main characters from the original show and gives it a goofier and less-serious spin. It is said to be extremely entertaining and worthy of a binge-watch. The critics feel it caters more to a newer generation with most of the references and plot lines altered to reflect that. With elements like crystals and spirituality, it definitely does wander off to impress a specific kind of audience, but eventually finds its way back in the end to make it seem like a fun teen comedy. Some critics believe the characters are not well-written at all and that they lack any sort of depth, which was previously seen with On My Block. They also believe that the essence of fictional town Freeridge is lost in the spinoff and it feels like any other regular area.
