After a family tragedy turns her life upside down, 16-year-old high school student Tohru Honda takes matters into her own hands and moves out… into a tent! Author Natsuki Takaya, who had limited involvement and disagreements with the 2001 adapted series, is fully involved in overseeing production of this adaptation.
Some scenes that were not in the original storyline were incorporated from bonus scenes in the manga and from things the author had wanted to include, but couldn't originally find a way to incorporate in the storyline.
Most of the English dub cast from Fruits Basket 2001 reprised their roles
Much of the English cast reprise their roles, but Aaron Dismuke returns playing a different character. In the original, when he was 9 years old, he portrayed Hiro Sohma in his first role. In the reboot, now 28, he portrays the Student Vice President Kakeru Manabe. Chad Cline had played Akito Soma in the original and now appears as Akito's father.
