AVM Productions has produced two films named after two of the top three actors of the 50s to 70s era of Tamil cinema: this film 'Gemini' after Gemini Ganesan, and 'Sivaji: The Boss', released in 2007, which is named after Sivaji Ganesan.
In a scene during the second half where Gemini (Vikram) and Teja (Kalabhavan Mani) make a bargain to go their own ways, both characters make a reference to the titular character of the 2001 Tamil film 'Kasi'. Vikram starred as that character in the film, which was a remake of the Malayalam film Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum' that had Kalabhavan Mani play the same character.
