TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

All scenes containing graphic images of animals are real and were shot on location at a real farm near the director's childhood home, without using body doubles for the actors.

Notice that the stark lighting at the opening of the film softens considerably when Georghe first arrives at the farm. This is to show the humanizing influence that the character brings and is best exemplified when he removes the bare hanging lightbulb in the caravan and puts it in a small tablelamp to create a warmer glow.

Alec Secareanu's performance in the film earned him a London agent, membership in the British Actor's Union and a British Independent Film Awards nomination.

Francis Lee was inspired to write the film based on his own experiences of working on a farm and wanting to leave to attend drama school. He too is gay.

Shot in chronological order.

Popular Dialogues

"Gheorghe Ionescu: My country is dead. You can't throw a rock in most towns without hitting an old lady crying for her children who have gone."

"Gheorghe Ionescu: In my country, spring is the most beautiful. The sun. The flowers. The smells."
