Harrison asks "who was that old guy in 'King Lear'?" and is told it's actor Macaulay Culkin. This is meant as a joke, as Culkin was a child actor at the time this movie was made and will be 73 in 2053.
The film takes place in 2053.
At one point Hurricane Walter is mentioned. Buck Henry was also in To Die For (1995), that featured a dog called Walter and the screenplay was also written by Henry.
Buck Henry went on to appear in Breakfast of Champions (1999), which was also based on a novel by Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
