In October 2018, the show was renewed for a second season, which is scheduled to be released in 2020.
The show is based on a series of graphic novels by cartoonist Luke Pearson.
The first two episodes of the series premiered ahead of the show's Netflix release at the 2018 New York International Children's Film Festival.
Creator Luke Pearson also worked as a writer on the Cartoon Network series Adventure Time.
In the show, being able to see the bureaucracy-obsessed Elves requires filling out some forms. As of Season One, the character who are known for sure to be able to see Alfur and other Elves are Hilda (who filled out the paperwork in Chapter One), the Great Raven (Chapter Three), Hilda's mother (somewhere between Chapter Three and Chapter Four), Frida (Chapter Seven) and the Wood Man (who is shown interacting with Elves in Chapter Eleven).
