For filming, Rachel's red Acura was transported from Littleton, Colorado to Nashville, Tennessee.
The initial release date was April 20th, 2016, the 17th anniversary of Rachel Scott's death. It was moved to October 21st, 2016 at her parents' request. The movie is meant to be a celebration of her life, not her death.
According to the Daily Mail - UK, Richard Castaldo, who was with Rachel Scott outside when she was shot, was briefly in a coma after the attack, later revealed that Harris and Klebold had in fact asked both him and Rachel about their faiths. Castaldo said he was still alive only because he truthfully answered that he did not. He also told his mother that the killers were yelling at Rachel 'about God and do you believe in God'.
Executive producer Benny Proffitt arrived at Columbine High School hours after the mass shooting for a scheduled school program. At the time, he was leading a Tour Across America to every state, with 40 college students.
When Rachel pulls into the school parking lot, she passes a sign that says "Good Luck Band"; this was the message on the school's sign the day of April 20, 1999.
"Rachel Joy Scott: I've always been drawn to hands. I think it's because it's the way that we touch people. Compassion is the greatest form of love that humans have to offer. I have this theory that if one person, can go out of their way to show compassion, it could start a chain reaction. How do you know that trust and beauty and compassion won't make the world a better place to be in? Tomorrow's not a promise... but it's a chance. You might just start a chain reaction. And what's behind all of this is my faith. I'm a Christian. And... [she chuckles] Rachel Joy Scott: I'm not trying to be weird, or convert anybody or anything like that. I just wanted to be real with you guys, and let you know who I am. Jesus gave his life for me, and I'll give my life to him. Just wanted to get that out there. Teacher: Thank you, Rachel."
"Rachel Joy Scott: There's no easy answer, but I don't think that God wastes anything."
