Loosely based on the story of Mississippi's "Delta Prince," Ralph Hand III, and his ex-wife Olivia Browning, which made headlines in November 1989.
A night time barbecue scene at Pamela Jo's was filmed, featuring an elaborate tracking shot. Noisy neighborhood dogs repeatedly ruined takes and the scene was omitted from the finished film.
The film was intended to open with a much more gruesome depiction of a corpse on fire. A realistic body was constructed with plastic bones and latex rubber skin and set ablaze. As filming wrapped that evening, crew members and onlookers took pieces of the fake corpse as souvenirs. Unfortunately, the footage from that shoot was destroyed during developing and portions of the charred body couldn't be tracked down for re-shoots.
A TV movie for the Fox network.
Shot in 19 days.
