Atlee Brar was offered the film ,but started to feel he could make it as a hero. So he rejected the villains role. Gulshan Grover was then signed .
Jeeva is the only film where Mandakini is paired opposite Sanjay Dutt. It was a decent hit. Saawan Kumar Tak had signed the pair for his ambitious superhero film Shantidoot. However, that project was later shelved owing to high production costs. The two also starred in the 1988 smash hit Jeete Hain Shaan Se, but were not paired opposite each other. Dutt had Vijayta Pandit while Mandakini was paired opposite Mithun.
