Joey is an American sitcom, a spin-off from Friends, which stars Matt LeBlanc reprising his role as Joey Tribbiani. It premiered on the NBC television network, on September 9, 2004, in the former time slot of its parent series, Thursday nights at 8:00 p.m. Midway through the second season, the show was placed on a hiatus by NBC but returned on March 7, 2006, in a new timeslot of Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m. One episode, "Joey and the Snowball Fight", was shown on a Tuesday at 8:30 p.m, but was pulled by NBC when it was overshadowed in ratings by American Idol. NBC canceled the series due to poor ratings in May 2006 and did not broadcast the remaining episodes. No other cast members from Friends reprised their roles on Joey.

In the 2nd season, 22 episodes were made but only 14 episodes got to air.
Adam Goldberg, who plays Michael's father, Jimmy, also guest starred in a few episodes of Friends (1994) as Chandler's new roommate after Joey left.
Even though this show is a spin-off of Friends (1994), none of the other main cast members from there make an appearance on this show. However, David Schwimmer, who played Ross, did direct two episodes.
Kevin Bright is the only one of the three creators that have moved on to work on "Joey." Marta Kauffman and David Crane have not continued to work on "Joey" though they still receive credit for creating the character of Joey.
Matt LeBlanc and Andrea Anders began dating after the show ended, ending their relationship in 2015.
