The series titled Jubilee is a historical drama largely based on the lives of Devika Rani, Himanshu Rai, Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar, Ashok Kumar, etc. It is set in the pre-and post-independence era of the Bombay Hindi Talkies. Through dialogue, melodies, lyrics, picturization, cinematography, and set design, creators have successfully managed to capture the era. The slightly darker color scheme also manages to create the right atmosphere. All of the actors did a fantastic job, however, Aparshakti was expected to do a better job because the stakes were high for his part. Aditi Rao was excellent as usual. With each new project, Wamiqa becomes better and better; Sidhant Gupta is flawlessly cast as Jay Khanna. Vikramaditya Motwane's direction is perfection and he manages to get strong performances out of all the actors. The character development is beautiful and the series manages to grab your attention with every episode.

At the peak of his career Ashok Kumar did a negative role in Sangram (1950) and it was a blockbuster. The dialogue that keeps repeating during shooting in Jubilee Episode 2 Sungursh is taken from the climax of Sangram. Aparshakti Khurana does really well in the series. But the original scene in the movie will blow your mind just watching Ashok Kumar in a negative role - shooting cops and laughing hysterically.
Bombay Talkies had cast producer Himanshu Rai's wife Devika Rani with a new upcoming talented actor Najm Ul Hasan in the upcoming movie Jeevan Naiya (1936) but Devika Rani fell in love with Najm Ul Hasan and eloped with him. The distraught producer asked his assistant sound engineer Sashadhar Mukherjee whom Devika considered as an elder brother to call her. Sashadhar gave her a reality check and told her that in India an eloping woman is considered immoral. Devika returned to Bombay Talkies and continued shooting for Jeevan Naiya but Najm Ul Hasan was fired. Himanshu Rai then cast Sashadhar's brother in law 'Ashok Kumar' in the lead role and thus a star was born.
