The serial was renamed as "Instant Khichdi" for its second season that was broadcast on STAR One.
Mishri Majethia and Kesar Majethia, who played the role of Chakki in season 3 and the movie respectively, are both daughters of Jamnadas Majethia, who plays the role of Himanshu.
Khichdi pretty much nailed the trend of situational comedies in India. Television show makers in the country had never really seen potential for sitcoms as something audiences would be positively receptive to before Khichdi happened.
Khichdi remains the sole show by Star Plus in the TV sitcom category to have been rerun so many times since its release on the flagship channel as well its sister channels like Pogo and Star Utsav.
The first episodes of both first and third seasons contain the line "Deewaron Ke Bhi Kaan Hote Hain."
