TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

The script was written specifically for Christian Slater in mind for the title role.

The cursing scene was written to poke fun at the PG-13 rating.

Although she was playing a college student, Milla Jovovich was only 15 during principal photography.

First feature film appearance of Ashley Judd. She turned down a larger role because she was asked to do nude scenes. She responded, "My mother worked too hard for me to take my clothes off in my first movie." In fact she said in an interview that producers were asking her to take her clothes off since she first got into acting: "Well first of all, my first audition yielded a screen test and I was asked to take my shirt off. It was between another woman and me, and I said that isn't about our acting, that's about evaluating a pair of breasts. And the answer was not 'no' but 'hell, no!'."

"Kuffs" came under fire from parental and community groups when released theatrically in the US for its violence and profanity. The protesters felt the film well exceeded the PG-13 rating and should have been rated R.

"[Kuffs and Bukovsky, armed with pump shotguns, are facing about a dozen hoods in the film's climactic confrontation] Unidentified Hood: It's a twelve-gauge pump, boys. He's only got three shots. They can't get us all! [He reaches for his gun, Ted blows him away] George Kuffs: [gestures to dead hood] Well, now we know he can add... [gestures to Ted] George Kuffs: And he can subtract. So who wants to be next here?"

"Ted Bukovsky: Stop the car! Are you trying to kill me? George Kuffs: What are you so angry about? All I wanted to do was follow the guy! Ted Bukovsky: Did you see a [beep] Ted Bukovsky: crime being committed? Did you see a [beep] Ted Bukovsky: crime being committed? George Kuffs: If we follow him, then we will see a [beep] George Kuffs: crime being committed! Ted Bukovsky: You are a [beep] Ted Bukovsky: Patrol Special, you don't go looking for a [beep] Ted Bukovsky: crime! If you see a [beep] Ted Bukovsky: crime being committed, then you take action! Otherwise, your [beep] Ted Bukovsky: job is to service those people who are stupid enough to hire you to protect them! Now if I'm gonna get killed on this job, it's gonna be by a [beep] Ted Bukovsky: bullet, not by a [beep] Ted Bukovsky: bus! Now turn this [beep] Ted Bukovsky: car around and let's get back on your [beep] Ted Bukovsky: patrol! George Kuffs: You may have a limited vocabulary, Ted. Ted Bukovsky: Fuck you!"
