Brandon Lee plays the illegitimate son of David Carradine's character. Brandon's real-life father, Bruce Lee, auditioned for the lead role in the original TV series, "Kung Fu" (1972), but Carradine got the role instead.

Actors returning from "Kung Fu" (1972) were David Carradine, Keye Luke, Mako, Benson Fong, Roy Jenson and Tad Horino. Only Carradine, as Kwai Chang Caine, and Luke, as the blind Master Po, repeated their roles.

Final performance of Benson Fong.

The title on screen is identical to the original TV series, "Kung Fu" (1972).

Like the series that preceded it, "Kung Fu" (1972), this story is set 100 years in the past (1886).
