In one shot of the experiments in the stadium Timon and Pumbaa from The Lion King (1994) can be briefly seen standing in the crowd.
The fourth and final film installment of the Lilo & Stitch franchise, this film also served as the conclusion of the franchise itself until the Stitch! (2008) anime, which later confirmed its sequel status in its third season.
This film was released on television first, but is often considered a direct-to-video film because is was released on DVD just four days later.
Technically Stitch has more of a supporting role in this film than a leading role, and Leroy is only a secondary antagonist since Hämsterviel is still the main Big Bad. If anything, a more accurate title for this movie would be "Lilo & Reuben".
The DVD contains the Lilo & Stitch: The Series episode Lilo & Stitch: The Series: Link: Experiment 251 (2006) as a bonus feature. At the time of Leroy & Stitch's premiere, it was the only episode that hadn't aired on television yet. It would air as the final episode of the show the following month.
"Dr. Jacques Von Hämsterviel: I think that went very well, don't you? Captain Gantu: Actually, I think... Dr. Jacques Von Hämsterviel: I did not ask what you think! Captain Gantu: But you did... Dr. Jacques Von Hämsterviel: That was a rhetorical question! Don't you know what a rhetorical question is? Captain Gantu: Yes, I believe it's... Dr. Jacques Von Hämsterviel: That was a rhetorical question too!"
"Stitch: Aloha! Grand Councilwoman: Captain Stitch, the Counsel has - you have coconut cake on your uniform. Stitch: Sorry. [takes his shirt and licks it off]"
