Story
A middle aged writer of pornographic novels meets and falls in love with a sixteen year old school girl. This alone is cause for concern but when the couple get married and move to America, the trouble (and fun) really begins.

According to an interview with Richard Donner, he was reportedly asked by Charles Bronson if he wanted to direct the film, and was delivered a script, read it and thought it was interesting and eventually directed it. However, Donner felt he was still not experienced enough to direct a film, nor did he did get along with Bronson at all, as they thought differently about how the film should have been.

First appearance of Jill Ireland in a Charles Bronson film. The two were married in 1968.

Norman Thaddeus Vane based his script on his brief scandalous marriage to Sarah Caldwell. Caldwell was only 16 while Vane was 38 when they got married.

British comedian Jimmy Tarbuck plays a character called Norman Vaughan, and British comedian Norman Vaughan plays a character named Jimmy Tarbuck.

The voice of Jack Hawkins, whose larynx was removed in the late 1960s, was provided by Charles Gray (uncredited), who often overdubbed his voice in these later years due to their similarities in speech.
