STORY

Story
A documentary which explores the lives and tragic deaths of Marceline Orbes and Francis "Slivers" Oakley, the suicidal clowns who inspired Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton.

TRIVIA

Trivia

Pre-production began in Coventry, UK, in January 2015. Active production commenced in March 2015 in Berlin, Germany.

The film was shot on location across three continents - the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

Without films of Marceline's or Slivers' performances, the filmmakers had to re-stage some of their long-lost routines. Slives' signature routine, "The Baseball Game" was recreated and filmed in Central Park, New York. Two of Marceline's routines, "The Statue" and "Fish a for a Dog" were recreated in animated form.

'Looking for Charlie' is being screened together with a Directors' Q&A at Kent Museum of the Moving Image (aka Kent MOMI, in Deal, Kent, UK) on Friday 16th & Saturday 17th November 2018 at 6:30pm (doors open 6pm), with tickets available to book online at the Museum's website.
