TRIVIA

Trivia

Official submission of Venezuela for the 'Best Foreign Language Film' category of the 79th Academy Awards in 2007.

Only a month after the start of filming, and after casting 250 girls without finding that mix of innocence, sensuality, violence and musical genius that 'Maroa' should be, Yorlis Domínguez appeared, walking with her parents. Like Maroa, Yorlis knows the temptations and dangers of the neighborhoods of the great Latin American city. She came from her psychologist, who had recommended to her very humble parents that they take her to a casting, because her acting could help her overcome her problems. Perhaps this is why her first time in front of a camera is so authentic.
