For her somewhat downbeat role, Kim Cattrall wore no makeup and left her hair just as it was when she got up each morning during the shoot. She also gained 20 pounds to play Monica Velour. During filming, she would often go to local bars to eat and drink.
The Weenie Wiz hot dog truck driven through the movie was stolen by Michigan car thieves soon after shooting. The hot dog truck has still not been recovered.
According to the DVD audio commentary, the producers changed final shooting script, edit and music against writer/director Keith Bearden's wishes.
The director had originally wanted the title 'Miss January' (Monica's centerfold that Toby has was from January 1978), but all 'Miss' with month descriptions have been copyrighted by Playboy / Hugh Hefner organization which refused use. At the close of the credits, the movie's own copyright credit still reads 'Copyright Miss January'.
The movie was released on DVD and Blu-ray with an audio commentary by Keith Bearden and Kim Cattrall from Anchor Bay Entertainment on August 16, 2011.
"Monica Velour: Swear to God, you screw a few hundred men and the whole world turns against you."
"Monica Velour: Pinch a little; don't twist! You're not changing channels! Tobe Hulbert: Sorry. Monica Velour: No, don't press on it. More like you're painting a house... Tobe Hulbert: [slightly impedimently pronounced] Is this good? Monica Velour: There you go..."
