TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Chadwick Boseman stated in an interview that he based his accent he uses for the Marvel character Black Panther from a film he was working on where he played a man from South Africa. This is the film to which he was referring.

After playing in festivals and small venues for a few years, Netflix decided to acquire the film.

In addition to the video game "Payday 2" being explicitly featured in this movie, the game and the movie share some themes beyond organized crime and gratuitous violence, such as an important character who is a dentist but not only such.

In one scene, Jacob King (Chadwick Boseman) subdues Zico and tells him, "Whoever you work for, tell them this was a message from the King!" Coincidentally, his future MCU character T'Challa/Black Panther would become the King of Wakanda, a fictional African country.

Chadwick Boseman would join the MCU as Black Panther. His co-star Teresa Palmer would later appear in Berlin Syndrome (2017) under the direction of Cate Shortland, who would later make the MCU film Black Widow (2021).

Popular Dialogues

"[first lines] Woman: [on voice message, crying] Jacob, it's Bianca. I'm in trouble. I need your help, please. I have something they want. Jacob, I don't know what to do. Please, call me."

"Wentworth: Let me tell you something. Dentists are for men what gynecologists are for women. Once you have them wide open and your hand is inside them, their sense of shame just drops away. You become trusted with their confidences. Sometimes, you send them home with a prescription that's a little more fun than what the problem requires. And other times? Well, if you can help out a little more substantively and nobody's going to get hurt, then why not help out?"
