TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Mark Wahlberg's character stated, "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." The quote is attributable to English author George Orwell.

On March 28, 2017, at CinemaCon, Mark Wahlberg and director Peter Berg announced that they were planning Mile 22 (2018) to become a trilogy, describing "an action series at STX Entertainment."

On February 5, 2018, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos showed up during filming in one of the locations in Colombia. Director Peter Berg even had President Santos try to shoot one of the action sequence of the film.

The script was written with Mark Wahlberg in mind.

During Dougie's last stand, Bishop quotes "A Man Must Sometimes Spit On His Hands, Raise The Black Flag, And Begin Slicing Throats". This is from the 1990 book Friday Night Lights by HG Bissinger, which Peter Berg adapted into the 2004 film and 2006 TV series. The quote, from Mencken's 1919 Prejudices (First Series), is in full: "Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit upon his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats."
