In the beginning of the film during Gordie Howe's retirement ceremony we see Howe's number raised to the rafters of Olympia Stadium. This raising shows the banners of Ted Lindsay and Sid Abel. While both players played along side Howe their numbers were not retired until 1991 and 1995 respectively. At the time of Howe's ceremony the only other retired number was Larry Aurie's #6 (an honor that would later be stripped from Aurie by former Wings owner Mike Ilitch)
