In her autobiography, Lana Turner revealed that she thought the script for the film was stupid. She fought against doing the film, but lost. She also did not get along with her co-star, Ezio Pinza, who was resented by the crew for his lordly demands.
This movie turned out to be such a stinker that MGM waited to release it until after Ezio Pinza's second film, Strictly Dishonorable (1951).
Operatic bass Ezio Pinza made his film debut in this musical.
This is one of a handful of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer productions of the 1950-1951 period whose original copyrights were never renewed and are now apparently in Public Domain; for this reason this title is now offered, often in very inferior copies, at bargain prices, by numerous VHS and DVD distributors who do not normally handle copyrighted or Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer material.
Lana Turner's singing voice was dubbed by Trudy Erwin.
