TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Ellen Burstyn received an Emmy nomination for her performance, even though her character only appears on-screen for eleven seconds, and has only two lines.

Jean Harris served her prison term at the Bedford Hills Correctional Institute. It still functions as a women's prison. In a strange coincidence, the name of the road that leads to the main gate is Harris Road.

The Tarnower bedroom depicted in this movie is an exact replica, down to the smallest detail, of Herman Tarnower's bedroom as it was in 1980. As was the Tarnower dining room and trophy room. However, in this movie, more animal heads cover the walls.

Ellen Burstyn and Cloris Leachman previously appeared in The Last Picture Show (1971), where they both received their first Oscar nominations (both competed with each other and Leachman won].

Ellen Burstyn, who appears in a minor role in this movie, played Jean Harris in The People vs. Jean Harris (1981).

Popular Dialogues

"Jean Harris: I realize that you are just a secretary and weren't as fortunate as I in graduating magna cum laude from Smith, but surely any well-read 10-year-old knows the meaning of the word "bizarre"."

"Vivian Schulte: I know a lot of women who'd like to do to their husbands what Jean did to Hy. Fortunately, not a lot of women carry around pistols in their purses."
