TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

The song that Jack Black sings at the party was improvised.

During some of the wrestling scenes they used blow-up dolls to replace some of the audience. Supposedly, they cost much less than extras and they looked real.

During filming Jack Black recorded a series of "confessionals" which were uploaded onto the Internet as video podcasts available from iTunes. They became one of the most popular podcasts in the world.

The film was partly inspired by Fray Tormenta ("Friar Storm"), aka Rev. Sergio Gutiérrez Benítez--a Mexican priest who became a wrestler to raise money for his parish.

Ramses is portrayed by Cesar Gonzalez, a real-life luchador best known as Silver King, a second-generation luchador who is the son of lucha libre legend Dr. Wagner. He is also the brother of fellow luchador Dr. Wagner Jr. and the uncle of the recently debuted Dr. Wagner III. He died of a heart attack in May 11, 2019 (age 51) during a wrestling performance in London, England, UK.

Popular Dialogues

"Nacho: I'm not listening to you! You only believe in Science. That's probably why we never win! Esqueleto: We never win because you are fat!"

"Sister Encarnación: Where are your robes, Ignacio? Nacho: They were... stinky. These are my recreational clothes. Sister Encarnación: They look expensive. Nacho: Thank you. I mean... they might have the appearance of riches, but beneath the clothes, we find a man... and beneath the man we find... his... nucleus. Sister Encarnación: Nucleus?"
