The first draft for the script was written in two days. Writer, Benjamin Wilbanks admits that it shows but argues that the final draft is in the edit.
Originally had an 18 day shooting schedule but lost a day to rain. Yet they still made the shot list. An additional day of pickup shots was added after a draft had been edited. Actor Lee Trull was unavailable for the pickup shots so he was doubled by Wilbanks's cousin, Noah Hall.
Douglas Edward did the score for both Night Crawlers and the theme to the Wilbanks/Horn series "Ghostbreakers".
