When the British soldiers are being briefed on their mission, they are told that their objective is being held just outside Dunkirk at coordinates 51°N 37°E. This location is actually in Russia, south of Moscow, not far from the border with Ukraine.
The film was shot entirely in Johnson County, Indiana, about thirty miles south of Indianapolis, and had its world premiere in the Artcraft Theater in downtown Franklin, Indiana.
The movie was released on August 29, 2017 to capitalize on the release of Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk (2017), which was released on July 21, 2017.
