TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Davis' 3 year-old daughter Barbara (Always called, "B.D.") makes her debut in the first of her 2 film roles, as Joyce's daughter as a young girl. (The other was the neighbor's daughter in "What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?").

The film was made before Bette Davis' comeback film, All About Eve (1950), but wasn't released until the year after.

Bette Davis' first freelance film after being under contract at Warner Bros. for 18 years.

Jane Cowl, who played Mrs. Hedges, created the role of Kit Marlowe, the Davis film role, in the stage version of "Old Acquaintance" on Broadway.

At the beginning of the film, Jim drives up to the house in a 1949 Cadillac (Series 62) convertible. Only 8,000 were built. Fully restored, in excellent condition this car can easily fetch six figures in 2016. In 1949 the sticker price was $3,442 ($34,743 in 2016).

Popular Dialogues

"Mrs. Edna Blanton: It's a man's world. They get everything out of it. I've told Fred hundreds of times, I'd never divorce him. No matter what he did, he couldn't make me divorce him. I'm his wife till death do us part - and I'm very healthy!"

"Mrs. Emily Hedges: Be careful, Joyce. When a woman starts getting old, time can be the avalanche and loneliness - a disaster."
