The Old Guy in suit who's tea was dropped by the Brazilian team at the hotel before the Final of 1958 World cup was actually the real Pele as himself.
The film was initially planned to be released in conjunction with the FIFA World Cup 2014, but it wasn't completed in time.
In the pele biography, it is mentioned that he actually first practiced with a crumpled newspaper and later on with orange peels wrapped in plastic bags in a round shape as he couldn't afford a ball. His footballing skills are often linked to his mastery of control from these humble beginnings.
Seu Jorge played Pelé dos Santos in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004).
A.R. Rahman, who scored the music, also did the soundtrack for Slumdog Millionaire (2008).
