TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Christina Ricci did not have to audition for her role. She was approached by Producer Reese Witherspoon.

Reese Witherspoon's first project as the leading producer, as well as an actress, and also Mark Palansky's feature film directorial debut.

As the movie was filmed in the U.K., many of the actors who play American characters are actually British, such as Ronni Ancona, James McAvoy, Nick Frost and Burn Gorman.

It took an hour and a half just to put the nose prosthetic on Christina Ricci.

Penelope's favorite novel (discussed with "Max" when he first enters the Wilhern house to take a picture of Penelope) is "The Dreamer" by George Rockham, a wholly fictional person.

Popular Dialogues

"Penelope: [to Max] You lied to me! I guessed piano and you said that... [gasps as Max whisks her around and kisses her]"

"Max: All Halloween I've been running into someone I used to know. Penelope: [wearing a pig mask] This someone - she meant a lot to you? Max: Yes, yes she did. Penelope: What happened? Max: I couldn't give her what she wanted. Penelope: What did she want? Max: To be free."
